Pat Borders was selected by the Blue Jays in the sixth round of the 1982 draft out of Lake Wales High School in Florida.

The Columbus, Ohio, native went on to have an illustrious 17-year Major League career, making stops in Toronto, Kansas City, Houston, St. Louis, California, Chicago (AL), Cleveland, Seattle, and Minnesota. Borders backstopped the Blue Jays to back-to-back World Series Championships in 1992 and 1993, earning World Series MVP honours in the franchise’s first ever title run.

The 6-2, 190 lb. righty also earned a gold medal while representing the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He is one of only five players ever to have won both a World Series and an Olympic Gold Medal.
