As one of our 2025 Provincial Easter Seals Ambassadors, Asha brings creativity, determination and a passion for making a difference. At 13, she lives in Toronto with her parents, sisters, and her Portuguese water dog, Cleo. A Grade 8 student, she loves English class and finds joy in expressing herself through writing, crochet and digital art. For Asha, making art isn’t just fun—it’s also one of the activities she can fully enjoy with her abilities.

Asha was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) which causes muscle weakness. She also has scoliosis and multiple contractures throughout her body. While Asha is not able to walk, she uses a power wheelchair and other essential pieces of equipment to help her navigate her day and pursue all that her ambitious nature drives her to do.
Asha, who dreams of becoming a lawyer, wants to use her new platform to challenge perceptions of disability. “I want people to not see the disability first when they look at a person. I want them to realize that we are real people with lives, strengths, hobbies, intelligence and ideas, and I feel that is something that many people don’t fully understand.”
In her role as a Provincial Ambassador, Asha is looking forward to the opportunity to advocate for young people with disabilities and represent Easter Seals Ontario—an organization that has helped so many families and kids just like her.
